IRCC's Latest Move: 1,980 ITAs Issued in General Draw on March 25, 2024
In a continuing series of updates that we've been closely monitoring and sharing on our blog, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has made another significant move in its Express Entry program. On March 25, 2024, IRCC conducted the third Express Entry draw of the month, which aligns with the trends and predictions we discussed in our previous blog post "Express Entry Updates: March 2024".
In this latest draw, IRCC issued 1,980 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in what was categorized as a general draw. This move highlights IRCC's continued commitment to welcoming skilled immigrants and addressing Canada's labor market needs. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for this draw was 524, indicating a high bar set for candidates in terms of skills and qualifications.
This draw is particularly notable following our previous discussion about the shifting dynamics in Express Entry draws, especially with the focus on candidates already residing in Canada. It demonstrates IRCC's balanced approach towards both in-country and general applicants, ensuring a diverse and robust immigration strategy.
Recommendation:
For prospective applicants, especially those already in Canada or those who have previously applied through Express Entry, this development underscores the importance of maintaining a competitive CRS score. As we've advised before, it is crucial to keep your profile updated and seek ways to improve your score, whether through additional work experience, language proficiency, or other qualifying factors.
Moreover, those not yet in the Express Entry pool but who meet the criteria for Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Workers, or Federal Skilled Trades should consider applying as soon as possible. The ongoing frequency and nature of these draws offer significant opportunities for obtaining permanent residency.
